So yesterday in Tehran, meeting with his puppet-master, Ismail Haniyeh, the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Prime Minister of the PA, said that Hamas will never—that would mean, not ever—recognize Israel. Oh, and that they won’t stop fighting until Israel is gone and an Islamic state is in its place.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh told thousands of Iranians on Friday that his Hamas-led government will never recognize Israel and will continue to fight for the “liberation of Jerusalem.”
Making his first visit abroad since the militant group took power in March, Haniyeh blasted U.S. demands that Hamas recognize Israel as a basis for renewed peace talks and before international aid to the Palestinians resumes.
The U.S. “and Zionists … want us to recognize the usurpation of the Palestinian lands and stop jihad and resistance and accept the agreements reached with the Zionist enemies in the past,” Haniyeh told worshippers at Tehran University.
[…] “I’m insisting from this podium that these issues won’t materialize. We will never recognize the usurper Zionist government and will continue our jihad-like movement until the liberation of Jerusalem,” he said.
But sure, EU, UN, and various other governments: Give the pals more money. Because it’s obvious that giving them what they want is making them change their minds about that whole “annihilate Israel” thing.
I would love to be able to talk to all the morons at the editorial boards across the planet who said that getting elected was going to force Hamas to moderate its stance. Let me repeat: What part about
“We will never recognize the usurper Zionist government and will continue our jihad-like movement until the liberation of Jerusalem.”
do you not understand?
Meryl as we both know “never” is a long time !
“Let me repeat: What part about (genocidal threats against Israel) do you not understand?”
They understand it, problem is they agree with it. They can’t let it show, though, or Israel might cut them off before their plans are complete.
Yes we want them to stop the jihad nonsense, before the civilized people of the world decide that everybody else can live a lot more happily if there were no Muslims disturbing us with their violence, malevolence, and arrogance.
I think this IS a change in Hamas’s stance, or at least their rhetoric. Haniyeh used the phrase “the liberation of Jerusalem” rather than “the liberation of Palestine”. He’s effectively saying, “We will never officially recognize Israel, but will stop fighting once we get Jerusalem back.” (Whether Hamiyeh’s sincere is another question…)
Anonmyous, when you can find him actually SAYING that, you can put forward that point. Because there is no evidence of any change in their attitude towards all of Israel, what with the phrase “usurper Zionist government” preceding his promise to battle until Jerusalem is “liberated.” And when he says Jerusalem, he doesn’t mean “East Jerusalem.”
Hamas has used the phrase “liberation of Jerusalem” many times before, except, of course, they never use the name “Jerusalem.” To Muslims, the city is Al-Quds.
