Hamas can be trusted. Really. Just ask Jimmy Carter.
Hamas can be trusted, former US President Jimmy Carter said Monday, in an interview on NBC’s ‘Today’ show. Carter spoke with NBC’s Meredith Vieira about his perspective on the Middle East conflict, and his new book, “We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land.”
According to the former president, Hamas never deviated from their commitments as per the ceasefire agreement. He said that, during his meetings with Hamas leaders in Damascus and Gaza, he was promised that Hamas would honor agreements between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel, as long as they were supported by public referendum.
Hamas did bad things. I’m not defending them. But they did adhere to the ceasefire fully, Carter maintained.
So, firing rockets and mortars at southern Israel can be counted as maintaining a ceasefire where you’re supposed to not fire rockets at Israel?
Those links, by the way, are from the first days of the truce. The first days.
Jimmy Carter repeatedly ignores proof that Hamas lied to him when its leaders said they would accept a two-state solution. He consistently ignores statements by Hamas leaders in the Arab press that say they will not stop until Israel is destroyed and replaced with an Islamic caliphate. And he utterly ignores the actions that prove they mean what they say.
Jimmy Carter is a senile, doddering old terrorist-enabler. He has proven, by words and deeds, that he is no friend to Israel. He’s been in the pocket of the Saudis since at least the Carter Administration (go look up the BCCI scandal). I think he’s an anti-Semite.
What I don’t understand is why anyone, anywhere, thinks he’s relevant.
And now he’s written another book, doubtless with more than enough blame-Israel rhetoric to go around. Jimmy, hurry up and take your final bow, please. The Yourish.com mantra includes you, too.
Interesting title. I wonder: does he ever refer to Israel by its proper name anywhere in his book, or only as the Holy Land?
I also wonder what his answer would be if he were to be asked why this country is called the Holy Land in the first place. That could prove to be an interesting conversation.
“Jimmy Carter is a senile, doddering old terrorist-enabler.”
I suspect, Meryl, that in the heart of your hearts, you are too soft on him still. You forget that he is quite a successful terrorist-enabler.
This is the same Jimmy Carter who insists that Egypt has never violated its peace treaty with Israel. Decades of vile antisemitic incitement evidently don’t count; the clause in the treaty dealing with such matters isn’t Carter’s concern, any more than the Hamas weapon smuggling that contravened the express terms of the six-month cease-fire that ended in December.

Dear Friends:
Were it not that we once greatly admired President Carter we would not grieve about his current condition. It is obvious that someone has hidden his antipsychotic medications and substituted capsules filled with chemicals designed to make him think that he knows something.
But there is a cure for this: we are going to set up a camp in Sderot for him, his soulmates Cynthia McKinney, Bishop Tutu, Kofi Annan, Robert Fisk, Bishop Williamson, and the editors of the New York Times. Please tell him that he will be able to get plenty of fresh air because he will not sleep in the shelters, and plenty of good food because treif is not allowed.
Tell him also that the Irsraelis are unlike his friends the Saudi royal family and the various ayatollahs, so he will be able to bring his scriptures and candles and hymnals and bay at the moon whenever he chooses. If he stays for a while then maybe his family will not be embarrassed by his fool behavior for a while.
Love and kisses,
Former contributors of to the Carter Center and family members of the late Carter Administration.
Please don’t blame it on senility, his age, Alzheimer’s, or mental illness.
He’s always been an idiot, one of the worst Presidents in history, and a total loser to boot. A ham sandwich could have won the election running against the scandal-tainted Gerald Ford…
And a turkey sandwich could have won running against McCain… Oh. Wait…
