Comments Policy

First, the technical part: You must have your first comment approved before being able to comment freely. You can include bogus information if you don’t feel comfortable leaving your name and email address. I don’t use your email address for anything other than to email you if I feel like it.

Now, the behavior part: No flames. No insulting other commenters or, for that matter, me. My blog, my comments, my dime. If you can’t get your point across without insults, you are not welcome here. If you want to insult me and my readers, you’ll have to get your own blog.

This is a No Israel Bashing Zone. Read that post carefully. If your intent is to bash Israel, go somewhere else to do it.

Disclaimer: Although these comments are moderated, posting a comment does not constitute an endorsement of the commenter’s views.

Appropos of the First Amendment, I am not the United States Congress, which means I can happily censor any and all speech in the comments, and you have no recourse. Look at it this way: Yourish.com is my little nation in the blogosphere, and I am its dictator. This is not a democracy. Don’t even bother arguing about it, because I’ve been having this same discussion since 1987 when I ran a BBS. It’s an argument I always win. If you whine about your First Amendment rights, I will laugh at you, and I will also suspend the no-flames rule for people who think the First Amendment applies to my blog comments, and authorize all my readers to laugh at you as well.

And that’s it. Keep it civil, please. That’s all I really ask.

Kewl digs.. hmm something is missing tho (snaps fingers) kitty pictures! A place just isn’t a home until the cats are in residence.

  2. Tziporah says:

Yes, I agree with A.C. Also, the Zionist Parrots are also asking for Tig and Gracie pictures.

  3. segacs says:

Cool beans! Nice new design. Am liking it.

As for the dictator thing, next time I get complaints about banning flamers, I’m going to use that excuse, k? Thanks :)

  4. Feel free. I’m surprised you haven’t used it before. I use “This is not a democracy” on my students, who then get extremely annoyed, but agree that it’s true.

  5. Robert says:

No Problem! I like the new design…very crisp.

  6. Hello Meryl!

Yes, comment moderation is definitely needed. A moderated forum will be able to weed out Anti-Semitism, vulgarity and lashon hara, all which are against Halacha.

Aside, which branch of Judaism do you practise? Reform, Orthodox, Conservative, or Karaite?

    Have a nice day.
