Bono had some nice things to say about himself on 60 Minutes.
The Irish rocker also predicted that his music will still be around in 100 years, explaining that his songs occupy “an emotional terrain that didn’t exist before our group did.”
And Bono said he has no intention of slowing down. He noted that people in rock ‘n roll burn out at age 40, and said he wanted to see if his band could continue making “extraordinary” music.
Let’s see what was around 100 years ago:
- Give My Regards to Broadway
- I Love a Lassie
- In My Merry Oldsmobile
- In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree
- Loch Lomond
- Under the Anheuser Bush
- Yankee Doodle Boy
Granted, they’re not top 40 hits anymore, but three of those songs are pretty easy to identify even today, 100 years later. I’m betting even teenagers can hum the tune to “Yankee Doodle Boy.”
“In the Name of Love”? I’m thinking not.
Unless he’s singing tunes in Arabic, Bobo’s so-called peacemaking efforts (aka “surrender efforts”) will result in his songmaking efforts burning in large piles along with their infidel owners long before the century’s up.
Hahahahaha!
Yes, Bono, in the ENTIRE SPAN OF HUMAN HISTORY there remained emotions unfelt until you and your mediocre band came along and showed us the way.
There’s only one Bono who’s music will be remembered in a hundred years…
Here’ to you, Sonny!
Actually, I was easily able to identify 4 of the 7. They were good songs. “In the name of Love”? After a greta deal of thought, I remember a song called “Stop, in the name of love”. Is that the same song? I thought it was done by a female group.
