Song question

There was a song from the 1950s or 1960s that went on about how this girl had personality, then burst into something like “Plus she’s got a brand new car.”

I can’t find it via Google because the words are too common. Any help would be appreciated, as I need the lyrics for a parody I’m working on. It will be about King Kong.

  1. Meryl, is this what you mean? Nothing about cars, but she does have “a great big heart”. Maybe you heard a parody version.

  2. That’s the song. Perhaps my friends did one of those “Excuse me while I kiss this guy” things and messed up the lyrics–I always thought it was “Great big car.” Oops.

    Thanks, Angie.

  3. That was the only song I could think of, and I recall, that when I was a wee one (in the 70s), it was part of a commercial. I thought it was for some kind of hair product, but maybe it was for a car?

  4. Further jogging of self’s tiny brain’s memory lobe makes me think this song may have been used by Mary Kay Cosmetics. Hence, the “brand new car” reference would make sense.

  5. Mac Thomason says:

The old Michael Chiklis show The Commish had a promo spot where he and his wife sang the song, but he got the last part of it wrong and sang “And you’ve got a great big car”. Maybe that’s what you’re thinking of.
