The International Solidarity Movement, which proclaims itself to be a nonviolent organization that advocates only nonviolent “resistance,” is running terrorist press releases on its website. That would appear to go against the ISM’s stated goals:
To join the ISM in Palestine, you must adhere to the following principles:
- Belief in freedom for the Palestinian people based on all relevant United Nations Resolutions and international law.
- Using only nonviolent, direct-action methods, strategies and principles to work towards our goal.
It also goes against what they say are their founding principles:
The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) is a Palestinian-led movement committed to resisting the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land using nonviolent, direct-action methods and principles. Founded by a small group of activists in August, 2001, ISM aims to support and strengthen the Palestinian popular resistance by providing the Palestinian people with two resources, international protection and a voice with which to nonviolently resist an overwhelming military occupation force.
It also goes against another of their principles:
Attacks on innocent civilians, be they Israeli or Palestinian, are forbidden under most understandings of international law and ISM seeks nothing more for Israelis and Palestinians than the implementation of international law. We oppose the tactic of suicide bombings, especially those that have been carried out against civilian targets.
[…] The ISM maintains that all military tactics should be stopped by all sides in favor of nonviolent alternatives.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the ISM has been caught supporting terrorists. The IDF caught a terrorist hiding in their offices in Jenin some years back.
The Israeli authorities need to reclassify the ISM as a terrorist support group. What more proof do they need?
Via Dave.
A lot of the so-called peace groups are just human shields for their terrorist brethren and funders.
Just use high-velocity weapons, shoot through the ISMers, and you’ll kill the terrorist behind him, too.
I read the press release you linked to. It seems they were making a statement directed at the Palestinian community that internationals shouldn’t be harmed. I don’t really understand why you are upset over this, unless you agree with Laurence Simon that ISM members should be shot to death.
Please. If you can’t wrap your brain around the fact that the ISM is shilling publicity for a terrorist organization, you have some serious problems with critical thinking.
Al Aksa is a terrorist organization. For the ISM to be running Al Aksa statements on their website is tacit approval of their methods — which goes against the ISM’s claims of supporting nonviolence.
Clear enough yet?
