Hamas is abandoning the hudna (a period of rearming and recruitment with the full intention of fighting again and not a truce or ceasefire with the emphasis on negotiations and peacemaking as the MSM often claims):
“The earthquake in the Zionist towns will start again,” said a leaflet distributed by the militants at a Hamas rally Friday night. “The resistance groups … will choose the proper place and time for the tough, strong and unique response.”
Better have plenty of spinach-colored flags to wrap your corpses in, Hamas, because Yassin and Rantisi are about to get lots and lots of company courtesy of the IDF.
What truce?
By the way the Pals need new metaphors – “gates of hell opened” and “earthquake in Zionist cities” are getting stale just like Zarqawi’s corpse.
“The Horse Of Revenge Has Been Spurred!”
“The Platypus Of Doom Is Shrieking!”
“The Flap In Satan’s Dr. Denton’s Is Loosened!”
“Your Child’s Tricycle Is Now His Hearse!”
“The Eggtimer Of Pain Doth Be Turned!”
“Who Wants A Spanking? Not you, Cecil!”
“Suck The Mighty Cock Of Throbbing Rage!”
“The Muffler Of Reprisals Costs Dearly!”
with the greatest of respect, because your coverage is usually pretty wide ranging, I thought they abandoned it in direct response to the IDF shelling of a gaza beach today in error which killed about 9 and injured many more. if that isn’t included in the story, it seems rather one sided. Not that most coverage is not usually one sided, but you usually seem to cover both sides of a story.
This is a Lair Simon post, Katrina.
But my take on the issue: Hamas may have said they did it in response to the accidental shelling of civilians in Gaza, but they rather, well, lie. They were just looking for an excuse, and apparently, they were going to do it as a result of the IDF offing their “security chief.”
Yes, when an IDF shell accidentally goes astray and kills seven innocent civilians, it’s cause for the gates of hell to open. But when Hamas, IJ or Fatah’s AAMB deliberately try to kill and maim dozens of innocent Israelis, it’s cause for “restraint.”
(What time is it? It’s IDST!)
Here’s another difference:
Just like what we hear from the PA after a terrorist bombing in Israel, right?
As Meryl says, an excuse. When they start showing even a fraction of the concern for protecting their innocent civilians that Israel does, I’ll start buying the outrage.
They are Amalek.
King Saul got into trouble for not dealing with them as he should have, and now Olmert and friends will probably make the same mistake.
Sorry should have opened my eyes and looked at the author. And I do agree that in general they do call for the gates of fire etc etc when the IDF knocks out their top terrorists, and the world does call for restraint from israel after suicide bombings. However I still feel it should have been included in the story to give the best overall picture, and also to show the difference between Israel’s reaction to this (apologies, amends etc), and the palestinians’ usual reaction to knocking off a few more israelis (jubilation etc). But I am being rather demanding given this is not a job for either of you! Either way thanks the both of you for the good analysis.
