Have you ever seen one of those movies or TV shows where the main character is trying to impress someone, and the fantasy sequence switches to the main character onstage, furiously dancing while juggling, clashing cymbals and drum of a one-man-band instrument, and blowing into the harmonica at the same time? And the entire time, the person to be impressed is standing, stone-faced, and asking, “What else can you do?”
That’s how I feel on the job-hunt these days.
I’m dancing as fast as I can.
I don’t recall ever seeing a movie with that particular sequence, though the are other sequences (that I have seen) which metaphorically fit that bill.
I’m not sure if there are any words that can be said to alleviate the kind of feelings you are probably having except for ‘your hired’.
I’ve been here long enough to know that you have been searching for a long time. You have my sympathy, Meryl. I am sure there are others here who feel the same as I do.
I’m in a similar situation right now so I sympathize. Great metaphor, though. I wish I could hire you for… something…
Remember to take a few deep breaths several times a day. You’re in my prayers.
