Uh-huh. Yeah. Suuure they did.

Iran claims to have created an AIDS miracle drug.

Scientists in Iran have succeeded in developing a drug for AIDS containment, the Iranian news agency FARS reported. Last week, the Iranian health minister promised good news on the matter, yet no information regarding the drug and the treatment method has been released.

On Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a speech at Tehran University implying that: “There is a development on the issue, and if we announce it this would mean a tremendous development, but for now we lack the ability to answer all questions and we must continue dealing with different aspects of the matter.”

According to the report, the new drug, unmatched by any other in the world, was developed by Tehran University medical scientists. Test results show that that using the drug strengthens the body’s immune system and assists in dealing with the AIDS Virus.

Let’s all run out and try it, right away. Because it’s not like the Iranians would lie, or anything like that. Besides, there aren’t any Jewish doctors in Iran. Their research is highly suspect for that reason alone.

Perhaps it was a true national priority. Doesn’t Monkeyman look a little sickly, lately?

They must have made it using some of that depleted deuterium they have made in their muke program. That program is for medical research dontcherknow.

There are well establlished means of testing the efficacy of a drug. Submit it to scientific tests and replication of the experiments by scientists not involved in the development. If it works, fine, it’s about time some Muslim nation did something other than blow up other people’s airliners. If not…In hoc modo millis frangitur. That is Latin for “That’s the way the cookie crumbles”.

I’m not going to take any bets on whether they will submit the report to a peer-reviewed journal and allow replication of the experiments. I’m sure they won’t.

Huh? Why would you think there aren’t Jewish doctors in Iran? There are 30,000 Jews there!

Back about 1980, I met in (USA) college several Iranian Jews – except they wouldn’t tell most that. But, they would disavow any connection to Israel, they didn’t like the concept of Israel. But after the Shah’s overthrow they feared going back into Islamic Iran.

Anyway, as for the Iranian “miracle cure” for AIDS, see this treatment in a blog you’ve likely never seen,

The folks that know nuclear science are laughing (um, if you deplete Deuterium, you have – Hydrogen! Scary, isn’t it – not).

Iran is putting loonies in charge of most important areas of import (some would argue the same of Bush and the NIH), but Iran is doing it everywhere.

  5. JSinger, yes, there are, and I do forget that from time to time, what with their inability to practice their religion and other discriminatory practices Iran sets on them.

I guess I’m under the impression that Iran treats its Jews the way Jews used to be treated in Europe: Barring them from various professions, forcing them to do things they wouldn’t do, etc., etc.

So I don’t think of Iranian Jews as professionals. I’m sure some are, but I’d love to see information on that account. My suspicion is that Iran keeps its Jews on a very, very short leash.
