You know, I love Tig very much, and he is my big goofball, and he’s the purr-kitty and the one that snuggles and gives hugs, but man, you’d think he never had a sister, the way he’s acting. It’s like, “Gracie? Who? Never heard of her.”
Mind you, Gracie does the same thing if Tig has to stay overnight in the vet’s, but she’s got the better reason: Tig beats her up and teases her mercilessly.
Well, here’s his latest Tummy Tuesday entry.
Thats a _great_ pic of Tig – and it fits perfectly on my wide screen laptop desktop. Hopefully you don’t mind…
It’s never fails to amaze me how quickly animals adjust to and relish in being the ‘only’ pet. It’s been the same with virtually all the multiple cats and dogs I’ve had. Your cats are very sweet. I am catless at the moment, and really miss having one.
Yup, one of Mark’s cats was just like that when his buddy, another male, went to the vet for an extended stay. He got super-adoring and lovey with us, and occasionally he’d look one of us right in the eye and I swear he was saying, “You know, I know it was a tough decision getting rid of the other guy, but you made the right call.”
And oh man, did he ever look disappointed when the cat came back.
Not that Gracie’s gone for good…
Frisky took a while to adjust to Edloe’s absence. Of the three, it hit him the hardest because it had been Frisky-Edloe for so long and Gina was out of town for a week – everyone was leaving him all at once.
Frisky used to play with Edloe after dinner, although it was more like Frisky harassing Edloe into rolling over and shrieking and swatting ineffectually at the must faster Frisky.
He took to moping by the front door, watching the kitchen to see if Edloe would show up for dinner. I did my best to play with him after dinner every evening, and it took a while for him to adjust.
Nardo and Piper were halting by the back sliding glass door like Edloe was still there, guarding it. They expected it to be guarded by a grumpus. After a while, they got used to just going in and out without hesitating or looking first.
Nardo also got braver in his harassment of Frisky, knowing there wouldn’t be a grumpus to save Frisky from chasing. Nardo used to chase Frisky for a bit until they’d come across Edloe, and then Edloe would yell at Nardo. Nardo would back down and slink away.
What’s really odd is that if you accidentally step on Frisky’s tail and he shrieks, Nardo comes running in to PROTECT him.
This is the opposite from when we’d be in the middle of a Kitty Butt Maintenance on Edloe with the scissors, she’d howl death threats, and Nardo would come in to attack Edloe.
This is what makes me think Nardo’s chasing Frisky is play and not out-and-out attacking, whereas Nardo and Edloe were somewhat bitter enemies.
