Besides the fact that Amy Sherman-Palladino is no longer in charge of it, that is.
Last night’s episode contained Emily Gilmore using the word “snarkiness” when describing Lorelai’s sense of humor.
Emily would not use “snarkiness.”
I will not be buying season 7. As far as I’m concerned, the Gilmore Girls ended last year.
I second you on that! What is wrong with this show this year?! I’m not the least bit interested in Christopher, leave her already (again) and let her get on with her life with Luke! I can’t belive at 42 yo I’m commenting on Gilmore Girls.
The season started out stronger than last season — actually, the entire season is better than last season, so far. But these two are bottom of the barrel. I think I will pretend it ended after year 5.
There’s actually a ton wrong with the show. For starters, it’s no longer interesting or funny, most of the time. The characters are unrecognizable. Stars Hollow is now merely background. It’s all about the Gilmore Girls And Their Boys now. No Miss Patty, no town meetings, none of the nuttiness that made the show so great. There’s no patter any more, and the speed is glacial compared to the Amy seasons.
It is, in fact, no longer the Gilmore Girls. It’s a pale echo of what it was, or a Pod People version.
I don’t like anyone in it any more. Not even Lorelai.
Hell, I missed last week’s episode, and I didn’t even notice. I wonder if I taped over it by mistake?
I don’t disagree with you, except that it’s still better than last season, which I think was absolutely terrible, for mostly the same reasons as you’re giving now — the patter was gone, Rory has become I don’t know who, April is the dullest character ever, and it’s all about relationships. I haven’t liked Lorelei in a while, or Rory — I’m still a fan of Emily and Paris, though.
Of course, the Lane is pregnant! With twins! subplot may well drag this season lower than s6. It’s hard to say.
I stopped watching after Lorelei dumped Luke and took up with Christopher. A la Method, I don’t see the motivation. Word, to those who mentioned a pathological interest in “relationship”. I think the Christopher thing was a false, tired lead. Enough already! I didn’t subscribe to soap opera.
