Israel turns the tables on the ICC

Israel is now using the ICC in ways, I’m sure, the UN never thought possible. Israeli organizations are bringing suit against Hamas for murdering Israeli citizens.

ZAKA, a volunteer organization committed to the recovery and identification of human remains, in coordination with the municipality of the rocket-battered city of Sderot, may be on to a new method for combating Hamas: The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

In a lawsuit against Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal, ZAKA’s directors Yehuda Meshi-Zahav and Dudi Zilbershlag and Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal argue that Mashaal is responsible for numerous murders and crimes against humanity and war crimes.

In the suit Mashaal is blamed for the killing of 176 civilians and the wounding of hundreds in Hamas-sponsored terror attacks and suicide bombings that took place since 2002. Attacks on military targets were not included in the lawsuit.

While I doubt the ICC will agree to any kind of sanctions against even a murderous terrorist group like Hamas, what with their being a Palestinian entity and the UN being utterly unable to acknowledge the Israeli right to live without fear of terrorism, at least it’s a poke in the eye to the UN and its Arab/Muslim controlling bloc.

At the very least, we will be able to watch Hamas and its supporters twist themselves into knots trying to explain how it’s okay to murder civilians riding on buses.

  1. soccer dad says:

Well if the terrorists know anything about international law, it might be because the International Committe of the Red Cross is teaching them.

  2. Sabba Hillel says:

Actually, the ICC will probably try to sanction Israel for putting Mashaal into the position of being sued.

  3. Eric J says:

I’m sure all of those murders will be found to have been committed by “rogue elements” of Hamas, with no connection to Mashaal (even if they have written orders with his name on them.) Nevertheless I’m happy to see this tactic being used. I’d also like to see Jewish groups in England and Europe bringing Hate Speech prosecutions against various local Imams and other spokespeople.

    Its about time!
I cannot believe that its taken this long for Jews to say enough, and start fighting back in the international courts, and public arenas.
What percent of the population even know about the almost total expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Jews from the arab lands?

There are multiple videos of hate speech against Jews in the UK by the “religion of peace,” and yet, everyone seems reluctant to take the next logical legal step to stop it.
I really do not understand why this is so difficult, maybe someone can provide a reasonable answer.

  5. Jack says:

Israel needs to take the bull by the horns and use every possible venue we can find to use against these guys.

Bring the hammer down and make life as uncomfortable as possible.

  6. Alex Bensky says:

Herschel, don’t you know that prior to 1948 Jews and Muslims lived together in peace and harmony? It was only the nasty Zionists…outside agitators, one might say…who disturbed the balance and fooled these innocent and hapless Jews into leaving their homes. Or at least, that’s the Arab story. And that story will be dragged out again.

  7. Herschel says:

Alex, I understand your sarcasm, but the counter argument needs to be is how many Muslims live freely in Israel [estimate 1.5 million], and how many Jews are allowed live freely in Muslim lands?

This is why I disdane the main stream media so much, their complete blackout of the truth about what happened prior to, and after 1948.
Especially the dhimmi treatment of non-Muslims in Muslim lands.
That inept idiot Carter has the gall to call Israel aparteid, yet never says a &%$%^ word about the lack of freedom to worship a different religon in any of the arab lands.

  8. Michael Lonie says:

Futile. International law exists today for the purpose of beating up on the USA and Israel. It is ignored by everybody for all other purposes.

  9. Neil G says:

I’m with Michael Lonie. Every time Jews and Israel try to make a point their enemies find a way to sanction the opposite. We’ve spent millions on Holocaust museums which are also “museums of tolerance” and instead we get Zionism equals Nazism. It would only be a matter of time until the World Court ruled in a way favorable to Hamas. We may think that Hamas is tying itself in knots to justify their behavior but think about nations like Iran, Venezuela and their allies on the Left. They have their own “truths” to enshrine and we’ll be helping them to do it.

I agree that there is no hope for the likes of Persia, the Arab countries, and their lackies, but the Europeans still have a “logical” legal system. Fortunately, the international criminal court is still based in Europe and Israeli evidence is still allowed to be presented, witness the phony case against Sharon a few years ago.
IMO, a claim should be presented by an Israel NGO, if only, to publicize the hypocrisy of what is ocurring in the middle east.
