My EATAPETA Meat-up

I’m willing to drive to Fredericksburg on EATAPETA Day, but no further. I’ve been driving to Company in Northern VA a lot lately, or driving to NorVA to meet friends and coworkers on a Saturday night. In fact, if I go to NorVA on March 15th, that will be the third Saturday in a row I will have driven to somewhere in either DC, Maryland, or NorVA.

Nope. Fredericksburg is as far as I go next Saturday night. Those of you from NorVA who want to Meat-up with me are going to have to drive a bit, too. We’re looking for a good place for a group that isn’t too expensive. Suggestions welcome.

I’m in Stafford, so Fredericksburg is very doable. I’ll watch this space for updates!

  2. I think that can be arranged. Pick a place. Preferably some place with fish on the menu (since kosher beef/chicken is obviously not going to be available at a Fredericksburg restaurant.)

I did a google search for

    http://yellowpages.aol.com/restaurants/kosher-restaurants/va/richmond/

While this is what I found, I have no idea if they are really kosher.

I also did a search using

for Richmond and the only Kosher place it found was the Farbreng Inn.

  4. I think the only one of those in the area is the one in Woodbridge.

A couple of years ago, I went to Royal Dragon in Rockville, MD. But I don’t want to drive two hours each way again. An hour, tops. Freddiesburg or I’m eating at home.

  5. That list can’t be correct. Arby’s? A nationwide fast-food hamburger chain? And Panda Express? A food-court chain that sells pork?

I don’t know who edits that list, but I wouldn’t trust anything from it.

Fredericksburg is OK by me. But someone else will have to pick a place. I only normally go there to visit a friend, and the only place we ever went to for food was the local gas station’s quickie-mart.

I know Fredericksburg fairly well. Any suggestions as to what type of restaurant that would be ok. I don’t know from kosher, so I can’t make a call based on that, but if fish is the minimum criteria, there are a couple of good seafood places. Bonefish perhaps?

  7. Mark, I’m allergic to fish. No seafood restaurant for me. I doubt there’s a kosher restaurant in Fredericksburg. I’d like a medium-priced steakhouse if possible.

  8. As far as I know, all of the McTexas-style chain-steakhouses have at least one fish item (usually salmon) on the menu, which would be fine for me.

If the place sells nothing but steak, then I’ll have to pass.

There’s a Logan’s on Route 3, right off of 95. They are mainly a steak house, but their online menu shows a couple of fish dishes – catfish, salmon and tilapia.

It’s not Ruth’s Chris, but it’s a serviceable place. I’ve had lunch at the one in Fairfax a number of times.

    How’s that sound?
