China’s Xinhua news agency is pretty anti-Israel, but it gives you the news that the AP won’t. For instance, a few days ago it carried a statement by Hamas that they would never, ever recognize Israel—statements that the AP seems unable to find.
GAZA, June 21 (Xinhua) — A spokesman for Hamas on Saturday said negotiations with Israel is out of the question and the Islamic movement will never recognize “the enemy.”
The spokesman, Ismail Radwan, also slammed negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. “We are not thinking of trying the ridiculous negotiations that the others have tried but failed to remove a single checkpoint in West Bank,” he said.
Radwan added that “the Zionist enemy must depart and recognize the Palestinian people’s rights.”
You got that? All Jews must leave Israel. that’s the Hamas line.
His remarks were made two days after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he was ready to compromise on making peace with the Palestinians and also with Syria.
Right. Peace with the Palestinians. Now there’s a contradiction in terms.
Today, we hear that Hamas says that it can’t trust Israel to keep the truce. Because after all, killing terrorists who are launching rockets into civilian areas is just an awful thing. But that’s not it. Israel has to give its enemies more fuel for its rockets, you see, before Hamas will agree that the truce is working.
Hamas on Monday said it was too early to judge Israel’s commitment to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire which took hold in the Gaza Strip since Thursday.
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said it was also early to “judge Israel’s commitment on lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip.”
Abu Zuhri said Hamas wants Israel to “allow the goods that were banned during the blockade like construction and industrial materials and fuel.”
Yeah, this truce is a great idea. They can build newer, better rockets with the fuel and materiel that goes through. They’re running out of sewer pipes to fashion into rockets.
No surprises here, just business as usual. If Israel goes through the prisoner exchange I hope that they give the gift of a visit from an Apache down the line.
