An ISM “activist” was hit in the head and severely injured by a tear gas canister during a weekly anti-fence protest. And of course, the “activists” are claiming that a) The IDF is using unnecessary force, b) the soldier deliberately aimed at the guy who got hit, and c) the IDF is using illegal crowd dispersal methods.
The ISM has shifted from B’ilin to Naalin, but their tactics remain the same. Hundreds of foreigners join Palestinians every Friday to attack the security barrier. They bring wire cutters and power tools. They throw “stones” the size of a man’s fist (or larger). They have wounded many IDF soldiers over the years, including blinding one. And oh yeah—they even spray each other with red paint to make it look like they’re bleeding.
I love how they always claim the IDF is deliberately aiming for people when someone accidentally gets hit, even while denying that they’re doing anything illegal—or wrong—in the first place. And I’m thinking that marksmanship is the last thing you are able to work on when firing a weapon that sends tear gas canisters into crowds.
It was an accident. A tragic accident, but an accident nonetheless—and if the wounded man hadn’t been attending the weekly anti-fence riot, well, he wouldn’t have been in the way of that canister. I have little sympathy for him.
The International Solidbodilywaste Movement hooligan involved is named Tristan Anderson. So is one of the Berkeley tree sitters.
I never did like the Botanical Rights Movement. I think I shall eat a vegetable in protest.
Correction: the link for the tree sitter article is this one.
Now confirmed: same guy.
A note to Prof. Steven Plaut’s blog avers
Conclusion: Experience as a tree s(h)itter is appropriate background for joining the International Soldbodilywaste Movement.
