Pariahnism

I think we should coin a new word for the anti-Zionist, anti-Israel, Jew-hating EUrocrats who are trying to brand Israel as a criminal nation and its leaders as war criminals.

Pariahnism (n.): The act of accusing Israel and Israelis alone for presumptive crimes, regardless of whether or not they are a) actual crimes or b) proven in any court of law.

A great example of Pariahnism is the U.K. granting Tzipi Livni temporary diplomatic immunity to prevent her from being arrested the second she sets foot in London, where she was invited to give a talk by the Jewish National Fund.

Justice Minister Tzipi Livni has been given special immunity to enable her to address a JNF meeting this week – her first UK visit after threats to have her arrested for alleged war crimes led to a change in British law four years ago.

The British government’s decision to give Livni temporary diplomatic immunity for her visit to London later this week stems from threats made by pro-Palestinian supporters and their allies, shortly after the Gaza war, to have her arrested for alleged war crimes against the Palestinians.

A British judge in December 2009 accepted claims that there was sufficient evidence to put Livni on trial and from that date she has not set foot in the country.

It’s despicable that she has to be granted immunity. It’s despicable that the U.K. doesn’t seem to go after the Saudi nationals who financially support the extremism in mosquests that causes terrorists that murder British soldiers both in and out of the U.K. The U.K. does nothing about speakers who preach terrorism and hatred of Jews and Israel.

But yes, by all means, arrest Israelis for presumed war crimes. Because that’s where the real war criminals are. Not Saudi Arabia, not Yemen, not North Korea, not China, not Syria (how often do you figure al-Assad’s wife shopped in London?), none of the other many nations that deny their citizens and foreigners human rights. Look up the treatment of foreigners in any Arab nation and you’ll see who the real criminals are.

Pariahnism. It’s just for Israelis.

Madam, I’m Adam

One of the things the Iranians think is going to work for them against the U.S. Navy is their strategy of having a lot of small, fast boats go after the Navy’s larger, slower vessels. They will probably have explosives on the boats and plenty of jihadis ready to marty themselves.

Yeah, meet Adam.

A successful test was recently carried out of ‘Adam’, a new military project that fires a high energy laser beam at its target causing destructive damage.

Built by American weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin, the laser canon was fired out to sea in the recent test, aimed at a small boat which was neutralized within seconds.

There’s a video on the page that I refuse to embed because it’s autoplay and there are too many other things in the code that I don’t care for. But go look at it. It’s fascinating. Also, it bodes ill for the Iranian braggarts.

Fadavi was quoted Tuesday by the semi-official Fars news agency as saying the immense size of the U.S. carriers makes them an “easy target.” He said contingency plans to target American carriers are a priority for the Guard’s naval forces.

“Aircraft carriers are the symbol of America’s military might,” he said. “The carriers are responsible for supplying America’s air power. So, it’s natural that we want to sink the carriers.”

The Revolutionary Guard’s naval forces are separate from the main Iranian navy. They are primarily based in and around the Gulf and include a number of missile boats and fast-attack vessels.

Yes, easy targets. Uh-huh. Because no way in the world will the U.S. Navy have thought of ways to stave off attacks by Iranians in fast boats filled with explosives. Oh. Wait.

Hulk smash Meimei!

Yeah, still not caring about the news.

Meimei’s been jumping on my bookshelves lately, at least, on the lower couple of shelves. She finds it a great place to get to the high ground when she’s battling Tig. I’ve been trying to figure out how to stop her. A friend suggested temporarily lining the shelves with aluminum foil.

But Meimei may have taken care of it for me. She just jumped on the shelf a few minutes ago, and knocked down the working Hulk Hand–which said, “HULK SMASH! RAWR!” and scared her right out of the office.

So I put it on the shelf she likes to jump on.

I have to put batteries in the other one and put it on her second-favorite shelf.

That ought to do it.

It’s kitty picture time

I’m just not in the mood for another depressing news roundup. Have a picture of my beautiful girl instead.

The ball is her absolute favorite toy. It’s the only one she actually fetches these days. She has about ten others, and while she’ll chase them down the stairs, they’ll stay there unless she can’t find Blue Stripey.

Mother’s Day Briefs

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms who read this site.

Yeah, I have a hard time feeling sorry for them: What’s it like to be a religious Jew behind bars? Read this article and find out. It’s filled with little references to what nice guys these wife-murderers are. Yeah. Real nice. Tell that to their wives. Oh, wait. You can’t. The remark from the one who insisted that violating Shabbat is worse than murder is the capstone of what makes me want him to stay there the rest of his life. I hate “religious” Jews excusing horrible behavior that way.

Can we save the Nazi references to, you know, actual Nazis? Amos Oz called Israeli settlers that harass Palestinians neo-Nazis. No, they’re pretty scummy, but they’re not neo-Nazis. We have those guys here. They are admirers of Hitlers, haters of Jews and minorities, and white supremacists. Amos Oz is a moron.

Speaking of “price tag” attacks: Israel is finally taking steps to stop them. Good. Defacing Christian and Muslim houses of worship is despicable. Teaching your teenaged boys that it’s right to do so is even worse.

Oh, look. Another company for Israel-haters to boycott: Qualcomm is buying an Israeli chip-maker. Wilocity makes chips for phones, tablets, and laptops. Do you think the Israel-haters will stop using their phones, tablets, and laptops when they discover they’re using Israeli technology? Nah. They won’t give up their Intel devices, and Intel has been in Israel for years. Hypocrisy, thy name is BDS.

Yes, yes it is: Naftali Bennett wants to end the practice of releasing terrorist murderers. There’s a simple way to prevent that from happening. Israel should enact the death penalty for terrorist murders. Boom, no prisoners to release. Israel didn’t go quite that far, but a bill was passed that should make it more difficult to include them in prisoner releases.

Caturday

Some new kitty pictures for you.

Miss Meimei, growing into Gracie’s cat bed. Not that she’s going to be as big as Miss Gracie was. I doubt Meimei will get much more than six pounds.

Meimei in cat bed

Here’s Tig. I started petting him and singing “Soft Kitty”, and when I got to “Purr, purr, purr” that is exactly what he did.

The Eleventh Commandment

In the fever swamps of the anti-Israel mind, there is an Eleventh Commandment. Thou shalt not support Israel.

Thou shalt not support Israel, part one: An Orthodox Arab priest was fired for saying he thinks Arab Israelis should serve in the IDF. So let me get this straight: Israel gets slammed for saying it’s the nation-state of the Jewish people because it also has Arabs and other citizens, but if someone suggests they serve in the IDF–like Jewish Israelis–they are shouted down.

Thou shalt not support Israel, part two: Mick Jagger has just made up for “Under my Thumb” in my book. His response to calls for the Rolling Stones to boycott Israel?

“We’ve been slammed and smacked and twittered a lot by the anti-Israeli side; all I can say is: anything worth doing is worth overdoing. So we decided to add a concert.”

Thou shalt not support Israel, part three: A Presbyterian pastor (PC-USA, the Israel-hating side of the PC church) was forced to resign his position on the Committee on Middle East Issues because he traveled to Israel on trips paid for by the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, VA. That wasn’t okay. The two trips before on the dime of pro-Palestinian NGOs? Those were fine.

Defining Islamism down

President Obama was given a humanitarian award by Steven Spielberg’s USC’s Shoah Foundation. Here’s what he said:

“We only need to look at today’s headlines: The devastation of Syria, the murders and kidnappings in Nigeria, the sectarian conflicts, the tribal conflicts to see that we have not yet extinguished man’s darkest impulses,” Obama said.

Um. Is he calling Islam a “darker impulse”? No. He is excusing the kidnapping of hundreds of Christian girls–for the crime of being educated–by an Islamic group that deliberately calls itself “Western education is sinful”. And that’s just their nickname. Their full name?

The group has officially adopted the name “the Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad”

Man’s “darker impulses” have killed over 10,000 Nigerians.

Founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002,[11] the organisation seeks to establish a “pure” Islamic state ruled by sharia law,[12] putting a stop to what it deems “Westernization”.[13][14] The group is known for attacking Christians and government targets,[13] bombing churches, attacking schools and police stations,[15][16] and kidnapping western tourists, but has also assassinated members of the Islamic establishment.[17] Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency has resulted in an estimated 10,000 deaths between 2002 and 2013.

They added 310 more to the body count yesterday, as they brutally attacked Christians because–well, because they’re not Muslims.

Witnesses described a well-coordinated attack that began shortly after 1:30 p.m. local time Monday at a busy outdoor market in Gamboru Ngala.

Wearing military uniforms, the militants arrived with three armored personnel carriers, they said.

They shouted “Allahu Akbar” — “God is great” — and opened up on the market, firing rocket-propelled grenades and tossing improvised explosive devices, witnesses said.

Some marketgoers tried to take shelter in shops only to be burned alive when the gunmen set fire to a number of the businesses, the witnesses said.

Is that enough to say they’re an Islamic terrorist group? Or at least call them jihadis? Because it isn’t “darker impulses” inspiring them to murder Christians. It’s their version of Islam.

This is one time where I’d be quite happy if Obama wanted the U.S. to play global cop and send in some troops to take these guys out. But I doubt he will.

Wednesday briefs

No, there is no double standard: When Israel expels African migrants who are looking for work (not fleeing persecution or war), the world lashes out and the media launches a thousand stories. When Leban on expels Syrian Palestinians feeling the war–well, the BBC noticed. Human Rights Watch wrote an article about it. I don’t see any big calls from HRW slamming the practice or bashing Lebanon for denying Palestinians their human rights. But then, it’s not Israel doing the deed, and of course, Israeli Double Standard Time is in effect. Why? Because every day runs on Israeli Double Standard Time.

Don’t nakba our nabka, dude: The Tower profiles the history of a Jewish town pre-1948 and post-1948. Gush Etzion is one of the towns that is labeled a “settlement”. The Palestinians claim it as one of their lost villages. And yet, Jews were driven off legally purchased land three times before Israel became a nation. That’s something the new “inakba” app, gleefully covered by Karl Vick (rhymes with “dick”), doesn’t acknowledge. Because history only started when Palestinians were displaced. The Jews who were thrown out of their homes in Hebron in 1929? History, dude. So long ago. Doesn’t matter now, Palestinians took over the town.

Good news/bad news: The good news? The scumbag who hoarded Jewish-owned artworks stolen by the Nazis and then tried to insist that it was his died, so the heirs of the owners will have a better chance at getting back their property. The bad news? Well, there is none. The asshole died. Okay, maybe a little–it is going to depend on whether the thief’s heirs kick up a fuss. The German government is past due on fixing this, but governments tend to be like that with the recovery of looted Jewish property, even all these years later.

Common stupidity

Over the weekend, we learned that a school district in California assigned its eighth graders an 18-page essay for an exercise in critical thinking. The exercise? Holocaust denial. The sources the students were sent to? Holocaust denial websites.

The 18-page assignment instructions included three sources that students were told to use, including one that stated gassings in concentration camps were a “hoax” and that no evidence has shown Jews died in gas chambers.

“With all this money at stake for Israel, it is easy to comprehend why this Holocaust hoax is so secretly guarded,” states the source, which is a attributed to a webpage on biblebelievers.org.au. “In whatever way you can, please help shatter this profitable myth. It is time we stop sacrificing America’s welfare for the sake of Israel and spend our hard-earned dollars on Americans.”

Un-freaking-believable. Not a single teacher thought this was worth protesting? Not a single reviewer of the Common Core program thought this was problematic? Can you imagine the conversation about this? “We have to teach critical thinking. Hey, I know! Let’s get the kids to refute the existence of the Holocaust to learn how the other side thinks!”

Un-freaking-believable. Oh, and get this: The school district that assigned this crapola? They defended themselves and the assignment. They didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. After all, they only got one complaint.

The Rialto Unified School District is defending an eighth-grade assignment that asks students to debate in writing whether the Holocaust was “merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain.”

The district says the assignment is merely to teach students to evaluate the quality of evidence made by advocates or opponents of an issue.

“When tragic events occur in history, there is often debate about their actual existence,” the assignment reads. “For example, some people claim the Holocaust is not an actual historical event, but instead is a propaganda tool that was used for political and monetary gain. Based upon your research on this issue, write an argumentative essay, utilizing cited textual evidence, in which you explain whether or not you believe the Holocaust was an actual event in history, or merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain. Remember to address counterclaims (rebuttals) to your stated claim. You are also required to use parenthetical (internal) citations and to provide a Works Cited page.”

Un-freaking-believable.

The documents at the source also claim that Anne Frank was a hoax. That’s critical thinking?

No, it isn’t. Exercising your critical thinking skills involves taking two sides of an issue where both sides are based on actual facts, and arguing the interpretation–not where one side is history and the other side is bullshit.

“Whatever (the district’s) motivation, it ends up elevating hate and history to the same level,” Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the associate dean of the Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center, told FoxNews.com on Monday. “We should train our kids to have critical thinking, but the problem here is the teacher confused teaching critical thinking with common sense, because common sense dictates you don’t commingle propaganda with common truth.”

Un-freaking-believable. On so many different levels, including the fact that not a single teacher or parent thought anything about students being taught to research lies as truth.

The assignment was developed by a small group of eighth grade teachers in December, Jafri said Monday afternoon. It was distributed to middle school sites in February and teachers were asked for comment.

“If there were complaints, we never heard about it at the district office,” Jafri said.

And oh, yeah–the school district stopped digging and decided that the assignment was wrong and should never be repeated.

Monday, briefly

Everything new is old again: Here’s another fine analysis of what’s happening in Russia. Keep Simply Jews on your daily reading list and you won’t miss translations like this.

No, I don’t need a million articles about it: Yes, tragically, some equipment failed and circus performers fell and were hurt. Thankfully, they will all recover. And no, I don’t need it to be the lead article on Google News when you have things like Ukrainians battling Russian forces, 60,000 Syrians are fleeing their homes to avoide more fighting (over 100,000 dead so far, and yet, no Syrian Goldstone Report, go figure), and, gee, so much, much more. But yeah, now that the Malaysian airliner is old news, we have to have something new to distract the journalists with.

Be careful what you wish for: It’s a typical slanted piece about the Palestinians taking Israel to the ICC after the failed peace talks, but Isabel Kershner manages to also discuss at how the Palestinians might get some serious blowback against themselves if they do take Israel to the ICC over settlements. The Shurat Ha-Din is preparing a case against the terrorists. My money is on the Israeli lawyers winning this one. Crimes against humanity? Well, I think suicide bombs, rockets, and mortars beat building new homes for “settlers”.

Priceless. He’s still such a moron: The anti-Israel and anti-Semitic Robert Fisk, whos last name became a verb known the world over for sarcastically taking apart a news article, will never change. He just published a whiny piece (with plenty of slams at Israel) about how Spain is inviting Jews back–who were thrown out in 1492 during the Inquisition–but not Muslims. Let’s think. Hm. Jews entered the country peacefully and established themselves as citizens. Muslims? Well, gee. there was this thing known as the Muslim conquest of Spain. They turned Spain and the region around it into the Muslim nation of “Andalusia“–a nation that Osama bin Laden (among others) wants to bring back. So no, I really can’t think of a single reason why Spain and Portugal are willing to let Jews return, but not Muslims. Oh, Robert Fisk. You so stupid.

Me, Hamas, and I told you so

Yeah, Hamas is never, ever going to “moderate”. Excuse me while I try not to laugh at the morons who keep insisting that Hamas will leave peacefully with Israel once there is a Palestinian state. They will not.

Hamas is committed to holy war against Israel, its leader Khaled Mashaal affirmed on Wednesday, one week after it signed a reconciliation pact with Fatah.

“Our path is resistance and the rifle, and our choice is jihad,” he said, in his first public comments since the deal with Fatah was announced.

But don’t call it anti-Semitism

Iran has banned WhatsApp, a messaging site, because its owner is an “American Zionist”.

The Iranian regime has banned access to the WhatsApp messaging site, a popular site for many to communicate both inside and outside the country, stating that a Jewish “American Zionist” owns the site.

The announcement came some two months after Facebook bought the company for a stunning $19 billion, and a regime official connected the move directly to the founder of Facebook.

“The reason for this is the assumption of WhatsApp by the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is an American Zionist,” Abdolsamad Khorramabadi, head of the country’s Committee on Internet Crimes, stated.

Of course, that’s their cover story. The real reason? It’s yet another way Iranians can talk among themselves without the regime overhearing their plans–which is a bad thing when you run a tyranny.

One Iranian blogger told FoxNews.com the regime in Tehran is terrified of the power of social media.

“The Revolutionary Guard sees these social sites as a major threat because there’s an appeal for young people and the government worries about the exchange of information,” said the blogger, who asked not to be identified. “(Supreme Leader) Khamenei and his cronies, caught on to the power and potential of these sites after the (Green Revolution) uprisings.”

Oh, don’t worry. If there’s another uprising, Obama will ignore that one, too, just like he did in 2009.

Thursday briefs

Left hand, right hand: Why, yes, Hamas is still actively embracing terror as a way to deal with Israel, in spite of its pretense of agreement with Fatah for now. The State Department issued a report about it. But don’t worry, that won’t stop State from telling Israel to negotiate with the Palestinians anyway.

Of course they are: The Palestinians were quick to jump on John Kerry’s new pet word–apartheid–to describe Israel. But then, Saeb Erekat is a master propagandist and liar. (Ha’aretz link, so if you’re not a subscriber you’ll only get the first paragraph. I am not a subscriber and never will be.)

The truth is out there: Even though Reuters is publishing the truth, the media will still lie about the Palestinian unity deal. It’s a sham, and terror leader Mahmoud al-Zahar is happy to tell us. Because he knows that the U.S., the EU, the UN, and the Western media will all ignore the inconvenient facts.

A Palestinian unity deal will not lead Islamist group Hamas to recognize Israel’s right to exist and will not result in any Gaza militants coming under President Mahmoud Abbas’s control, a senior Hamas official said on Tuesday.

They could photograph the Hamas leadership dancing on top of murdered Israeli civilians, and the world would still insist that the Israelis talk to them.

A week late, but happy blogiversary to me

On April 22nd, 2001, I started this blog. The first pages were hand-coded HTML. I was so green I didn’t know that permalinks were simply anchors on the page, so the first few months there were no individual post links. My first words:

Blogging. The new media term taking the Net by storm. Short for Weblog, to Blog is to put up a web site that chronicles your thoughts, your activities, your life, either in the hopes of enlightening yourself and others, or because your ego is the size of Montana.

I’m hoping it’s the former.

I’m still here. Thirteen years, probably a couple million words, thousands of posts, and I’m not quite done yet.

So happy 13th year, one week anniversary to me.
